Book Launch, Reading, and Reception with Barbara Bonner
The Mount, 2 Plunkett St, Lenox, 2 p.m.
Inspiring Generosity grows out of Barbara Bonner’s extensive experience working with philanthropists and a desire to explore the power of generosity to transform our lives as individuals, families, communities, work places, cultures and the world at large. Generosity often arrives in our lives in a lightning bolt of inspiration—a word, a gesture, a story, a quotation or poem. In her presentation, Barbara will discuss these moments of inspiration in others’ lives, as well as her own transformational exploration of generosity. She will give us some highlights from the book, including stories of “generosity heroes,” inspirational poems and quotations from a wide variety of sources, and a few remarks on the vagaries of getting just the right publisher for her first book. Barbara’s talk will be followed by a champagne reception and book-signing.
Barbara Bonner started her professional life as an art historian and quickly moved into the New York museum world as curator, deputy director and director. She went on to serve as Vice President of Bennington College and, in a complete detour, as Senior Vice President of the Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health. For many years she has had her own consulting practice with nonprofits nationally and internationally. Additionally, she has survived leadership positions on ten nonprofit boards in New York and the Berkshires.
