Writing workshop led by Jana Laiz
Arrowhead, 780 Holmes Road, Pittsfield, 10:30 a.m.
Come to Arrowhead with a notebook and a pen, quill or ballpoint and write the way Herman Melville did in 1850. Writer-In-Residence Jana Laiz will lead this ”unplugged” writing workshop. No Macbooks, no PCs, no iPads. With just paper, pen and inspiration we will write stories, essays, poetry… anything you feel inspired to put down on paper. We will share our stories (or not) and have fun getting the creative juices flowing in the place where it all happened. As Herman Melville gazed at Mt. Greylock from his window, the view and place inspiring him to pen Moby Dick and other stories, we will take inspiration from Melville’s place.
Jana Laiz is the award-winning author of Weeping Under This Same Moon, The Twelfth Stone, A Free Woman On God’s Earth, Elephants of the Tsunami, and Thomas & Autumn. She is the first Writer-In-Residence at Herman Melville’s Berkshire home, Arrowhead. She teaches writing workshops locally, nationally and internationally, including the 2014 San Miguel Writer’s Conference.
